Enhanced Performance of a brand new Myvi using Chemlube SAE30 Sports Oil.

A few days ago I took my friend’s new Perodua Myvi for a ride to Klang. Apart from getting a test ride, the purpose was also to try out Chemlube’s SAE30 Sports Oil on the brand new car, to see if it made any difference compared to the still new original lubricant that came in it.

I drive a Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost as my primary vehicle. Naturally, I was not particularly impressed with the Myvi’s performance and acceleration, especially accelerating from a constant cruising speed in order to overtake another car. The car feels like it needed some coaxing on the pedal and additional patience before it wants to accelerate and overtake. But then again, to be fair, this 1.5 litre engine is no Ecoboost engine. My other gripe is with the Eco Idle function (Auto Stop/Start) in that it gave the car some serious vibration as the engine restarts to move forward from a standstill; the vibration is very much like that of a typical morning cold-start.

Nevertheless being a new car, the Myvi offered a comfortable ride, with reasonable noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) that is expected of the new chassis and the Toyota DVVT engine.

Upon reaching Klang, we proceeded to visit a workshop to have the original engine lubricant changed with Chemlube’s SAE30 Sports Oil. My friend, C W Then, posed in my video with his thumbs-up, with full confidence that this Chemlube Sports Oil will deliver on its promise, just like all the other Chemlube motor oils do, for their individual purposes.

A visit to Klang would not have been complete without a round of Bah Kut Teh and chinese tea for lunch. But I’d assure you that this combination of food and beverage does not give rise to any hallucination with regards to a subtle but substantial feeling of engine smoothness and willingness to accelerate when the pedal is nudged. This feeling of smoothness actually came gradually as we leave Port Klang on the main trunk road, with the new lubricant fully circulating in the engine, and begin to take over the lubricating function by replacing the old oil that had coated over the surfaces of all tight-fitted and moving metal parts.

The drive back to Petaling Jaya felt a little too short but definitely more pleasurable. Even all my companions in the car agreed that the engine sounded quieter and less harsh. I particularly took notice of the Eco Idle or Auto Stop/Start function in action and felt that the better lubricated engine this time starts up with less fuss and vibration. I would venture a guess that the engine start-up now also consumed less current from the battery, thus causing lesser strain to the battery.

It seems that the premature thumbs-up from C W Then earlier at the workshop has now been adequately proven to be true. The Chemlube SAE30 Sports Oil by itself, alone, has undoubtedly demonstrated its performance enhancing capabilities on a new car that is already performing at the best level it is capable of. I now wonder how this Sports Oil will actually perform in my 5-year old Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost.

Visit to Northern State Chemlube Outlet Leaves a Deep Impression

by Lim See Meng, Kuala Lumpur.

Being an occasional traveller up north, I was pleasantly surprised to find out about the rapid development taking place in a once sleepy town of Kepala Batas. I was in the market for a property to invest in and a friend recommends that I take a serious look at this growth centre, the birthplace of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi.

And so with the Hari Raya holidays presenting an opportunity to unwind, I brought along the family up north for another "look-see-look-see" trip. Well, I have to bring along the "finance minister" for her second opinion in case I really like to invest there.

Anyway, to cut the long story short – as this article isn't about property investment or development – this trip also gave me a chance to complete some unfinished endeavor that has been lingering in my mind since my last trip in January. I was looking for workshops that carries Chemlube motor oil so that I can check them out for reliability in case the need arises to service my car. A friend did earlier give me details of a workshop in Sg. Petani and I had wanted to visit them during this trip.

This workshop is Lee Cheng Motor Services Sdn Bhd and is about 10 minutes from the toll-exit and located just off the main road. I also found out that it is an authorized service centre for a popular auto maker, much like the other workshop I visited in Penang Island the last time.

It is a spacious workshop and well equipped but most importantly I observed that the mechanics there handled their customers' vehicles with reasonable care. I spoke to the workshop owner, Mr. Chin, who is very hands-on with the servicing and despite having experienced mechanics working on separate cars, he participates and goes from car to car to ensure their servicing is done correctly.

Mr. Chin is a well qualified man who holds a bachelor degree and a Fellow of the Institute of Motor Industry (FIMI-UK). With such background, it is not surprising that he was a pioneer who chose to offer the superior Chemlube synthetic motor oil more than two decades ago. Yes, that's how long ago that he first sold Chemlube and he has something from that era to show.

Chemlube prominently displayed in the workshop.

According to Mr. Chin, he has some customers who are very loyal and continued to use Chemlube for many years (like me). He has never gotten complains from any of his customers about Chemlube's performance. "The more you know Chemlube, the more you'll appreciate it", he says.

I changed my Chemlube at Lee Cheng Motor Services that day. At the same time I also requested servicing for my brakes. I noticed that Michael (the mechanic who serviced my car) patiently allowed the used oil to drain till the last drop before replacing new Chemlube oil. When he serviced my brakes, he used a vacuum suction to suck out the old brake fluid while adding new fluid in its place without allowing air bubbles to form in the tubes which will impact braking efficiency. I like this "high-tech" fluid replacement without having to pump the brake pedal repeatedly to remove air bubbles and I'm pleasantly impressed that a workshop in a less affluent part of the country provides such level of service.

Michael has been changing Chemlube motor oil for years.

Finally, my mission is complete, having done what I came for and visited two reliable workshops in the north where I can get my trusted Chemlube motor oil and which have met my high expectations in servicing my well maintained Toyota Camry. For Lee Cheng Motor Services in Sg. Petani, I certainly left, deeply impressed.

Chemlube has safeguarded my engine when in trouble twice

by Dansoh, Singapore

It was well known for the fact that people would drive into Johor Bahru for shopping, makan and cheap petrol no matter how bad the traffic jam was. I was one of those people and one fine day after filling my tank and on the way home midway across the Causeway, I noticed my water temperature was at the red line, on my Hyundai Excel.

Although I knew that my engine lubricant, Chemlube can withstand very hot temperatures, I was unsure if I should continue driving. However, with no way out of the jam, I decided to continue moving along. Although the water temperature was at boiling point my car pulls through the jams and I cleared the Singapore Immigration. As the car sped up on the road, I could see the engine temperature dropping to almost the normal level. Quickly, I had the problem fixed and to my surprise and good fortune, the mechanic could not find any fault due to overheating in the engine. I attributed this to the excellent quality of Chemlube motor oil, which saved my engine from costly damages.

Ever since I started to use Chemlube, I have felt the superior difference compared to the previous lubricants I used. I had great confidence in this oil and never looked back, knowing that Chemlube also offers qualities like easy morning starts, better engine response, cooler operations, etc.

Engine protected by Chemlube.

I continued using Chemlube all these years despite so many other brands appearing in the market offering better prices, free gifts and impressive quality claims. Recently, I was again caught in a similar situation as before, this time with my Mitsubishi CS3 1.6L. As I was heading into Johor Bahru, my air-cond started blowing warm air. Since it was a cool morning, I switched off the air-cond, not knowing that both fans were synchronizing with the air-cond. The car was running normally at first but while clearing JB Immigration and when I was searching for my Touch n’ Go card, I noticed the water temperature indicator at the red line. I did not panic, having the benefit of the past experience many years ago, I was confident that Chemlube would live up to my expectations.

I drove for another 3 kilometers to a workshop to fix my air-cond. After a thorough check, the mechanic unsurprisingly declared the engine in good health. As he pulled out the dipstick to check the motor oil quality, his body language suggested that he was completely puzzled that the oil was still in good condition. He had probably never seen anything like this before because when I casually asked if there was any problem, he replied that he had not seen a car surviving this sort of extreme overheating without terrible damages to the engine.

I continued to use the Chemlube oil in the engine for another seven thousand kilometers. During the oil change, I smelled the used oil. I could not pick up any scent of burnt oil or what we called “Chow Tar” in Hokkien dialect.

The proven motor oil.

My final analysis of Chemlube is that it is indeed a superior engine oil, proven twice to me that it really saves motoring costs. I am glad that I have the good sense to use Chemlube for its excellent engine protection when my car needed it most.

Chemlube Dealers in the Northern State

by Lim See Meng, Kuala Lumpur.

In January this year, I happened to travel up north for a leisure family trip. Although my car was due for a Chemlube oil change, I was confident to continue for another few hundred kilometers till I get back to Kuala Lumpur. As Chemlube ester-based synthetic motor oil can run for 40,000 km, I normally change at 15,000 km with consideration on the severe KL City traffic-jams condition which results in a lot of unrecorded kilometers.

Along the way, the drive on the North-South highway was typically a breeze, with reasonable uphill power despite a fully loaded car, though I do not expect excellent power like when I just change new Chemlube fully synthetic motor oil.

During my several days in Penang Island, I had some free time and decided to look for a workshop that carries Chemlube. Of course, it is not easy to find a reliable workshop which also sells Chemlube. I then made a number of calls to friends, few have heard about Chemlube except one friend who travels often, gave me details of an outlet in Sungai Petani, which is about an hour's drive further north. Why, despite the good quality and popularity of the motor oil in Klang Valley and having been in the market since 1983 that we can hardly find Chemlube here in Penang? I decided to do some research online, so I "googled" and found a short article on Chemlube sold at a Hyundai service centre.

And so, I made my way to Jalan Sungai Pinang where the workshop is located, for my Chemlube oil and filter change. This Cartech Auto Centre is a pretty large and reputable service centre, judging from the cars they service. I was surprised to learn from the friendly manager that they have been selling Chemlube since 1985. Not many workshops that I know of in the Klang Valley that sells Chemlube can boast of such long association with the motor oil. The one that I am aware of, started selling Chemlube when they were modestly sized in the eighties but grew to be quite a large workshop today. I was also told of a strong following for Chemlube among Cartech customers. These motorists will not accept any other motor oils except Chemlube. Naturally, this is not news to me as I do know of many fellow Chemlube users in Klang Valley who would use no other motor oils in their engines.

Cartech mechanic replacing Chemlube.

After having the oil and filter changed at Cartech, I started thinking on my way out, if I should pay a visit to the service centre in Sungai Petani since my family's next destination is Alor Setar. By now, readers would be wondering why I am quite engrossed into searching out Chemlube outlets in Penang. The reason is one of habit because in Klang Valley, I patronize a few Chemlube outlets for my car servicing so that I am not over reliant on one particular workshop or mechanic. Each service centre has its own strength and expertise, and over the years of servicing my car, I have identified the right workshop for fixing the right problem. So this scarce availability of Chemlube in Penang has prompted me to continue looking for other outlets here in the northern state. If I do visit the Sungai Petani workshop, maybe I'll write another piece about them.

Which Motor Oil Would A Champion Recommend?

Meet Kenneth Lau, winner of a recent Time Attack competition in May 2013 at the Sepang Circuit. Kenneth specializes in modifying and servicing high performance cars and gets them competition ready. At PitWorks, the workshop he operates in Taman Puchong Utama, many Gymkhana and Time Attack enthusiasts line up for his service to modify their cars in order to squeeze out every ounce of performance they can get. Naturally, one of Kenneth's secret formulas to winning competitions is Chemlube's Sports Synthetics motor oil. With the racing engines being pushed to their limits, Kenneth is confident that Chemlube will provide the additional headroom in engines' peak power to churn out the needed horsepower on demand while keeping them fully protected.

In his work, Kenneth has a reputation to uphold. He cannot afford to compromise on quality, and as such recommending Chemlube motor oils is the safest bet since it has been proven time and again by the performance of his cars. The trophies that lined the shelf in his office are testimony to his knowledge and skills that makes him a champion.

Whether you are a sports performance driver or a typical driver in the harsh city traffic conditions, Chemlube has the right motor oil for your car. As Kenneth recommends, "Start using Chemlube today, not just for its performance or fuel savings, but also for its engine protection to avoid unnecessary costly repairs in the future."

Proven Record

Chemlube synthetic motor oil has been proven superior in Malaysia for more than 25 years. In Penang, a reputable workshop, Cartech Auto Centre Sdn Bhd has been offering Chemlube to car owners since 1985. Recently their mechanic, Mr. Lim Boon Ching informed us that he is very impressed to observe a Honda CRV that has done more than 200,000 km and yet the engine is quiet and runs like new. This Honda CRV has been using Chemlube from Day One!
